Sports Law Solution is proud to be part of the Harvard Law School – Sports Law Clinic.  As it is an academic program, the student receives academic credit and we are glad to contribute to the success of this program!

CAS arbitrator seminar Geneva

We attended the CAS Arbitrator seminar organized by the Court of Arbitration of Sports (CAS) in Lausanne. The seminar took place in Fairmont Grand Hotel in Geneva. It was enjoyable meeting colleagues from all around the world and also making new connections!

 

8th Conference CAS & SAV/FSA, Lausanne

We took part in the 8th International Sport Arbitration conference organized by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and the Swiss Bar Association (SAV/FSA) at the Hotel Beau-Rivage palace, in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Our annual meeting took place in-person at the Raleigh Racket Club, which was recognized in 2023 and 2020 as the USTA Facility of the Year in North Carolina.

Sammy Sheppard who retired from his junior hockey career due to a knee injury last year was appointed to be part of Belveders® initiative representing youth athletes in the “Advisory Circle” consultations related to leadership project promoting the global culture of wellbeing in sports.

The influential article on safeguarding in sports is now available on Frontiers, Google Books, National Library of Medicine and other media. When first released the former General Counsel of GE (under Jack Welsch) and now the Lecturer at Harvard Law School, Ben Heineman (author of Inside Counsel Revolution” commented on the impact of this article as follows:

"The Tone From the Top: The Role of the General Counsel in the Prevention of Harassment and Abuse in International Sports" is an outstanding article that provides solid grounding for lawyers and their organizations in the prevention of abuse and harassment in the vital and risky area of sports, as many recent scandals have show."

Tribute to Professor Paul Weiler…  

At the occasion of celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Harvard Trade Union Program Andrea Carska-Sheppard attended Tribute to Professor Paul Weiler who was the Henry J. Friendly Professor of Law, at Harvard Law School and a widely published expert in labour law, sports law and tort, mentor and co-author of two articles published by her and Jim Medford. Professor Weiler was not only outstanding legal scholar who made huge impact in the legal disciplines but for those who knew him and worked with him closely he became a friend with great passion for sports and movies who liked to push boundaries exploring new concepts with his insight and vision always putting him ahead of the field.
